Herve Lenouvel
Hervé Lenouvel grew up in Brittany, near the forest of Brocéliande, and never really left – not in spirit. Born in 1960, self-taught, he tried watercolour and gouache before oil claimed him for good: its viscosity, its sensuality, its resistance. His process is physical and intimate.
Each day he walks, memorises, and returns to his studio to work fast, wet into wet, keeping only what matters – the emotion, the light, the precise mood of a morning or an evening sky.
Trees, water, sky, earth: his subjects are figurative, but his hand moves somewhere between instinct and abstraction, guided by colour alone. The result is landscapes that feel less like places than like states of mind.
His works have been exhibited in France, England, Canada and the USA for many years. A Lenouvel on your wall doesn’t show nature. It makes you feel it.
